Thanksgiving is here! It’s time for family, friends, and being grateful. And, Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be the same without the big turkey dinner. But, what if you are spending Thanksgiving in your RV? There are some beautiful places to spend the holiday in your RV. If you are loving life on the road, or just want to get away for your Thanksgiving break you can still pull off your full dinner. Here are some tips to help you enjoy your holiday dinner in your RV.
1. Deep fry your turkey
The idea of frying a turkey isn’t a new idea, people have been enjoying it for years. It’s a great option if you want a Thanksgiving turkey on the road, and don’t have an oven large enough to cook one in. Make sure you use the fryer in a safe area and follow the directions. This is also a great way to open up your oven to make your side dishes. Doing this can help you recreate the Thanksgiving dinner you would make at home.
2. Work together
If you are going to be at a campground with friends and family divide up the dishes. When you divide and conquer you can all enjoy a Thanksgiving meal while only having to do a small portion of the meal. You can also find a campground to stay at that hosts a Thanksgiving day potluck. Some places will provide the turkey, but have everyone else bring a dish to pass. Check out this example.
3. Change it up a little
If you want a turkey dinner, but don’t want to worry about roasting a whole turkey try cooking a turkey breast instead. You can enjoy the taste of juicy turkey and all the sides without having to worry about hours of cooking. Look for other shortcuts to your meal, like purchasing and reheating mashed potatoes, store-bought rolls, and prebaked pies. You can enjoy the taste of Thanksgiving and homemade without actually doing the work that goes along with it.
4. Use an Instapot
RVers swear by their Instapots. Food cooks faster and tastes delicious. If you are wondering what you can do with it for Thanksgiving check out these recipes.
5. Have it made for you
If you want the full meal with all the trimmings then consider purchasing the meal altogether. There are many different restaurants and grocery stores that will cook the entire meal for you and you simply pick up and bring it back to your RV to enjoy. If you are camped out in a warm destination you can enjoy the beautiful scenery outside, or if you are in a colder climate you can pack it all in your RV.
In all your dinner preparations don’t forget what the holiday is really about. Take a few moments to be thankful for all the blessings that you have around you, from the incredible destinations you can see to the friends and family you have to celebrate with.
