Three Ways RV Owners Can Help With the California Wildfires

Regardless of where you live in the United States, you know about the wildfires in California. While they are finally under control the loss that they left behind is nothing short of devastating. Forty-two people lost their lives. Over 8,400 structures were lost. Thousands and thousands of people are displaced and in need of help. after the fires and in the aftermath of two hurricanes that have devastated areas of the United States.

During times of tragedy Americans rise up, come together, and help each other out. Thousands of people are without homes while they sort through the details of what to do next. If you have an RV California residents can use your help Here are some ways you can put your RV to work to help out during this crisis:

1. Head out to help

You can still help out even if you don’t live near the area. Pack up your RV and head out to help. You can help with the cleanup efforts to prepare for rebuilding. There will be months worth of work to do. Then, the rebuilding efforts will start. If you are in a position to lend a helping hand, your RV can help. It can provide you with a base camp to use as you help those looking to rebuild.

2. Lend out your RV

There are thousands of people that no longer have a home to return to. These people are in need of everything from clothes to wear and a place to lay their heads. Almost all of the shelters that evacuees were staying in have now closed since the evacuation orders were removed. However, some of these people are finding they have nowhere to return to. Some are even sleeping in tents. You could provide a displaced family with a temporary home if you have an RV that you aren’t using or don’t need for awhile. Many campgrounds are providing lots for these residents to stay at free of charge.

3. Lend out your house

If you have been wanting to give full time RVing a try, now is a great time to test it out. If you are near an area that has been affected your house could be a great place for a displaced family to live. Airbnb is working to find homes that they can use to place displaced residents and relief workers that have come to the area. Host homes are offering their houses for free through October 30th. If you are an RV owner and willing to go full time for awhile you could be the answer that a family in California is looking for. People need a place to stay and will for months.

If you want to help out in this way and don’t own an RV yet, there is no time like the present to buy one. When full time RVing is your goal make sure you choose an RV that will be a good fit. You could use this opportunity to pursue your dream while helping someone out in a big way.

If these three ideas aren’t going to work for you, you can still help out. Check out this list of ways that you can donate to help those in California. Every little bit donated will go a long way in helping these people get back on their feet.
