No Truck No Problem, Pull These Trailers with the Family SUV!

If you thought that you couldn’t start your RVing adventure until you could buy a motorhome or a truck to pull a travel trailer, think again! RVing can provide your family with unforgettable memories and adventure as you explore the country together. And, with lightweight travel trailers, you can get started using your family’s SUV.

Advantages of travel trailers

Travel trailers are one of the most affordable ways for families to get started with RVing. But that’s not the only advantage to choosing a travel trailer. Here are a few more advantages:

•  You can use your existing car seats. When towing a travel trailer you don’t have to rethink seating arrangements and car seat options for your little ones when you’re on the road.

•  You can unhitch when you reach your base camp and have your regular family vehicle to drive around for day trips.

•  Because travel trailers don’t drive there is less maintenance that needs to be done on them.

How much can your SUV tow?

Disclaimer: contact our sales department for specific information regarding your vehicle and its towing capabilities

All SUVs are not the same when it comes to towing an RV. It’s important that you pay attention to how much your specific vehicle can tow. Generally the following rules apply:

  • Small, front wheel drive SUV – 1,500 lbs
  • Midsize, all wheel drive SUV – 3,000 lbs
  • Full size SUV – 5,000 lbs
It’s important to remember that these are general guidelines. Before purchasing an RV, you need to verify what the specific limitations are for your vehicle.
