Many people dream of becoming a full time RVer, however, they might not be saying what they think they are. There are two degrees of living in your RV full time. The first is a full time RVer – you find a place that you love and you live there in your RV. You have many of the same similarities that you would have at home. There are even some campgrounds that allow you to purchase a lot. That means you know who your neighbors are and where your home is. You have familiar places to go and a physical location to call home.
The second is a full time traveler. This is the term for people that live in their RV full time while traveling around the state or country, as opposed to living in one set location. Both people live in their RV, but one has a home location and the other never stays too long in once place. Here are a few reasons to be a full time traveler:
You Learn to Enjoy Experiences
When you decide to move into your RV full time you have to downsize and decide what to keep and what to get rid of. It’s a great way to realize that things are not important. When you travel full time you start to appreciate the experiences that you are having instead of the things that you own. There are so many places around the country that you can travel to in your RV. And, if you want to be a full time traveler, while staying slightly more local there are tons of places you can check out along the west coast. You can hit a spot that allows you to view Mount Whitney for awhile, then hit the beach, and travel north all the way through Oregon and Washington.
See Everything the Country Has to Offer
Some people want to travel the world, but there are so many things that we can see right in the U.S. And, when you are living and traveling in your RV full time you can see them all and pick your favorites to return to. Some of the things you can enjoy include:
- Grand Canyon
- Hike along the Appalachian trail
- Drive down to see the Florida Keys
- Drive the Pacific Coast Highways
- See glaciers in Alaska
- Experience all of the National Parks
Let’s not forget to mention, if you have family around the country it is much easier to be a part of the big moments of their lives. Attending weddings, birthday parties, and seeing new babies is not always possible when you have a permanent address that you call home. However, when you travel full time in your RV you can easily plan trips to be by the people you need to when you need to be there.
Have an Adventure
When you live in one set location, whether it’s a house or an RV, you become familiar with the area. You get to know where your favorite restaurants are and what the best activities are. You know where to go when you are board, what grocery store has the best prices, and where to get the best pizza in town.
When you spend life traveling you don’t have all of those familiar things to fall back on. Instead life is an adventure even while you are doing just regular everyday ordinary things. You get to meet all kinds of new people, find new restaurants, and find out what’s popular in local areas around the country. You can get the full experience by eating at local eateries and staying away from chain restaurants. When you stop in a local diner ask the staff for recommendations on what you should see and try in the area.
Just like everything in life, there are seasons to living in an RV. There are times when you may need to stay in one place for awhile – if your having a baby, getting medical treatments, going to school, etc. But, there are other seasons when you can and should set out on adventure. Go and see all that the country has to offer you.
