Central Coast RVing: Everything You Need to Know

What’s not to like about traveling and RVing the Central Coast? The coastline is picturesque. There are activities for everyone to enjoy from wine tasting and parks to shopping and culture. And you can end the day by taking in a stunning ocean sunset. If you’re interested in Central Coast RVing, here is what you need to know:

Where to stay:

There are plenty of great places to choose from when it comes to RVing along the Central Coast. Right now, due to COVID restrictions and rules, it’s important to verify beforehand what campgrounds are open. Some have new temporary restrictions in place so you want to make sure you have realistic expectations. For example, in many locations playgrounds are closed and rental equipment such as bikes are unavailable for the time being.

However, with that said, there are still incredible destinations to stay and explore when RVing on the Central Coast.

Pismo Coast Village RV Resort

Pismo Coast Village RV Resort provides you with easy access to everything that Pismo Beach has to offer. The campground has 400 RV sites and is walking distance to both the beach and shopping downtown. You can set up camp and head out on foot to explore the nearby sites including the popular Pismo Pier.

The resort offers a heated pool, laundry mat, and sports options such as basketball and shuffleboard. There is also a general store on site.

Cava Robles RV Resort

Cava Robles RV Resort is a perfect base camp for exploring in and around Paso Robles. They have pull thru RV sites available making it as easy as possible to arrive, setup, and start enjoying yourself. The resort is located in a region where old time charm meets modern luxury.

You can explore over 200 wineries within the region or do a short 30-minute drive to the ocean. And there is what feels like unlimited amenities to enjoy (make sure you verify what’s open before your arrival) during your stay. From walking trails with endless views to gourmet dining, you are sure to enjoy your stay.

Boondocking

Typically there are some great options for dispersed camping along the Central Coast regions. However, with the current wild fire conditions on the west coast, all of the National Forests are temporarily closed. However, if you’re planning a trip for the future, this is a great option to consider. You can explore free camping options here to find destinations in the location you want to travel.

Another option for boondocking is to find BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land to stay on. You can learn more about that in our post: BLM land: What It Is, How to Find It & What You Need to Know
