If your pet is part of your family then you understand how frustrating it can be when you travel. You want to take them with you but there aren’t many hotels that are accommodating of pets. And, it can be tough for your man’s best friend to be stuck in a small space for entire days of traveling. Those are just a few of the reasons why traveling with an RV is a great way to travel if you want to bring the WHOLE family with you. Once you hit the road you can check out one of these 15 pet-friendly RV destinations.
1. Pismo Coast Village RV Resort – Pismo Beach, CA
The Pismo Coast Village RV Resort features full hook-up sites with picnic tables along with fire rings. They also have a clubhouse, heated swimming pool, general store, laundromat, arcade, mini-golf, and bike rentals. The park is dog-friendly, so your whole family can enjoy it together. But, the best part of the resort is that it puts you right in the mix of all that Pismo Beach has to offer including beach activities, tours, and shopping.
The resort allows three pets per site although they do have some breed restrictions. Pets need to be inside at night, never unattended and kept on leashes no longer than six feet. Make sure you check their other requirements on their website.
2. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground – Orlando, FL
If you’ve been wanting to take your family cross country to Disney World but don’t want to leave your four-legged friends behind you can bring them with you in the RV to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. This allows you to take advantage of everything Disney offers about staying on-site while allowing you the comfort of your own RV. There are several dog-friendly areas throughout the park and they even have a kennel if you need it for a long day at the park.
3. Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort – Oceano, CA
The Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort allows guests staying on property to bring dogs along with them as long as they clean up after them and keep them on a leash no longer than six feet. Your family can enjoy the sand dunes and trails leading right to beach access. There are plenty of choices for everyone to participate in including hiking, biking, and water sports like fishing, boating, and surfing.
4. Fallen Leaf Campground – Lake Tahoe
If you want to get out in nature with your family then the Fallen Leaf Campground is a great option. Only a short distance away is Fallen Leaf Lake. You can take in the stunning surroundings including Cathedral Peak and Mount Tallac. You can also check out Lake Tahoe for activities such as windsurfing, swimming, and waterskiing. While your dog isn’t allowed on the beach you can have two pets on any RV site along with six people.
5. Paradise by the Sea RV Resort – Oceanside, CA
If you and your family want to enjoy the beach together than Paradise by the Sea RV Resort is a great option. It’s a short walk to the ocean where you can enjoy the beautiful beaches, go fishing, and check out the wooden pier.
The park is very pet-friendly. It has a couple of acre grass field available so your pooch can get out their energy and they have multiple areas for them to use when they need to go and they even provide waste bags for easy cleanup. Due to insurance reasons, they cannot accept guard dog-type breeds, which you can learn more about at the website.
6. Wilderness Lakes RV Resort – Menifee, CA
When you stay at Wilderness Lakes RV Resort there is something for your entire family to enjoy. The park is welcoming of dogs and has a fenced dog run for them to use. They provide bags near all pet areas. Besides your dogs, your family will enjoy the fish-filled canals running throughout the park along with the fact that the resort is very close to golf courses, live entertainment, and not too far from the San Diego Zoo and Disneyland.
7. Deer Creek Valley RV Park – Topeka, KS
The Deer Creek Valley RV Park is known as the top-rated RV Park in the area. It’s located near shopping, dining, museums, botanical gardens and plenty of other outdoor activities. The park itself has a playground, swimming pool, and a BBQ restaurant. It’s also located less than two miles from Lake Shawnee where you can participate in all kinds of water sports. There’s a fenced in dog park for your family dog. However, verify before staying because there are breed restrictions.
8. Dead Horse Ranch State Park – Arizona
Bring your dogs along as you visit Arizona and stay at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. There are a wide range of activities that you can participate in from cowboy dinners and a train excursion to hitting the casino and enjoying the local shopping. 10. Kamp Klamath RV Park and Campground – Klamath, CA
If your family enjoys fishing then Kamp Klamath RV Park and Campground should be on your list. The nearby Klamath River is one of the best rivers for fishing in the country. And, there are more than 30 acres surrounding the campground that your dog can enjoy off-leash if they are trained. They have plenty of activities for the family to enjoy including volleyball, horseshoes, and a playground. Nearby you’ll find the ocean, rivers, shopping, entertainment, and dining. And, no stop would be complete here without checking out the Redwoods.
11. Osprey Point RV Resort – Lakeside, OR
Not only does Osprey Point RV Resort welcome your pets, but they also provide you with a great experience as well. They have a PUB & PIZZERIA, boat dock, kids game room, and a meeting hall. You can also enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, and sailing on Tenmile Lake with your four-legged friend.
12. Mustang Hollow Campground – Mathis, TX
The Mustang Hollow Campground provides you the perfect base camp if you are looking to get out in nature. You can enjoy swimming in the pool and hiking around the area. If you keep your eyes open you may even spot an Indian arrowhead. Local attractions include the Texas State Aquarium, South Texas Botanical Gardens, USS Lexington Museum, Padre Island National Seashore, and more.
13. Horn Rapids RV Resort – Richland, WA
The Horn Rapids RV Resort makes a great basecamp to explore the surrounding area. There are wine tours, sporting events, golf, and plenty of activities around the resort including volleyball, horseshoe pits, and playground equipment. If you want to see the Little Bighorn National Battlefield, Grandview Camp & RV Park is the place to stay. The area is loaded with related activities and also with restaurants, swimming, golfing, parks and pet care as well.
15. America’s Best Campground – Branson, MO
Bring your pet and head to Branson Missouri to see all the area has to offer while staying at America’s Best Campground. Some of the activities that you can enjoy include local shows, golf, and all that the city has to offer. The park has a pool and spa, concrete patios, grills, a game room, and a car/RV wash. There are also concierge services to help you see all the attractions that you’re interested in.
