Two months ago, Airstream announced the smallest and newest travel trailer in their iconic line. This new trailer is called the Basecamp and you can see it on our Paso Robles and Buellton lots.
The Airstream Basecamp was designed for adventure and exploration in a modern world. The Basecamp is tough enough to go anywhere you want to go, light enough to be pulled by something you probably already drive and cleverly comfortable enough to be your cozy home after a day of being outdoors. Outside, the Basecamp looks like Airstream’s hip cousin. Inside, it is a micro modern living space, with room for human-powered adventure toys.
Who wants a Basecamp? Lots of people! The family of four that love tent camping and want their kids to experience a lot of adventures outdoors, but like the idea of a comfortable bed and their own bathroom. The doctor and his wife that want to see if they like camping enough to travel full time after retirement. The mountain bikers who want to explore new places to ride. The surfer who wants to travel up and down the coast.
What is so special about a Basecamp? Well, for starters, it is an Airstream. Full of Airstream quality and design, surrounded by Airstream’s 0.40″ aluminum. Every Basecamp has hand-crafted and welded extruded aluminum window frames, with tempered and tinted windows. In the front, when you are standing at the stove making a cup of tea, those windows provide you with an almost 180-degree view of the forest or the ocean that you are visiting that day. The rear cargo door (yes, Virginia, this tiny trailer has TWO doors!) is plastic-molded, lockable and has storage, a first aid kit, a window and a white board.
The front door is also hand-made, with a signature Airstream window. The interior walls and ceiling are completely aluminum, too. They will never sag, fade or rip. The kitchen has everything from a microwave to a boot tray, a 2-way fridge to a spice rack. Look around inside the Basecamp and you will be saying to yourself, “They have thought of everything!”
There is a lot more to the Airstream Basecamp than meets the eye. The battery compartment comes with one battery, but has space for two. The tie-down hooks on the floor are bolted to the metal for extra safety. The Bose speaker that comes with it has it’s own locking compartment, where you can also hide your cel phone and charge it at the same time. Solar panels on the top keep your batteries topped off. And two tents expand your living space out the side and back… a place to sleep, or store your gear or escape from bugs.
We have a Basecamp now to show you… and more coming. But not too many more! So if you want YOUR Basecamp, come see it soon in Paso Robles or Buellton, and then order yours!
