Before you pop the key in the ignition and set off, make sure you’re properly equipped. Here is a quick list of five essentials to keep in every RV.
Multi-Piece Tool Set
A solid selection of tools is a must-have. From screwdrivers and socket wrenches, to a good hammer and pliers, a multi-piece tool set will come in handy many times. Many sets are 100+ pieces and are available at surprisingly affordable prices. Whether re-decorating, or in the midst of roadside troubles, the right tools for the job can make all the difference.
Roadside Emergency Kit
Speaking of roadside troubles, it is necessary to prepare for the worst. A quality emergency kit can make that experience as safe and smooth as possible. Flares, flashlight, jumper cables, etc. should all be on hand. These kits can be found at reasonable prices from sources like Amazon.
Tire Repair Kit
It is advisable to travel with a spare, but if your vehicle doesn’t have a spare onboard, a repair kit will suffice in a pinch. Tire sealant isn’t a permanent fix, but it will get you moving again. Make sure that the kit you store is built for large vehicles.
Battery Terminal Cleaner
RV won’t start? Corrosion that accumulates at the terminal of your battery is a common cause. Luckily enough, there is a cure. Improve the connection of your battery with a battery terminal cleaner and get your RV started and the trip resumed. There are brush and aerosol can versions. For $10 you can own both.
Maps! Maps! Maps!
In this age of technology, it is easy to rely on GPS devices and smartphones. They are fantastic, but not foolproof. Don’t abandon this tradition of the road; have some maps on hand to supplement your fancy gadgets.
