Here at Sky River RV, we don’t just care about the RVs we sell, but how you use them once you’re on the road. And we can’t think of a better place to RV than on the Central Coast this summer!

Why The Central Coast?

California’s Central Coast has it all: oceanside landscapes, hills, summer sun, and wide-open roads for RVs to cruise down on a hot day. RVing on the Central Coast really feels like multiple vacations in one. You can experience it all here! And better yet, Central Coast campgrounds and RV parks are renowned for their excellent locations and facilities.

Let’s check out our list below, so you can plan the ultimate Central Coast summer RV trip!

1. Limekiln State Park

The Big Sur along California’s Central Coast is known for its hiking trails, mountain biking routes, and camping spots. It also happens that Limekiln State Park has 24 campsites, some of which are perfect for RVers looking for a quiet spot nestled among the redwoods with access to a small beach of their own this summer.

Whether it’s an adventure you’re seeking, or a quiet RV trip to take in the fresh air and beautiful sites of the Big Sur, you’ll find it all in one of the campsites located in Limekiln State Park.

Read a book by Limekiln Creek, admire the views from Limekiln Canyon, or head to the Porter Ranch Trails for a day’s hike among the wildflowers. The choices you have here are endless. And many of the campsites have fire pits, picnic tables, and barbecue grills to use.

There is a catch though – RVs over 24 feet aren’t allowed in the State Park. There are still plenty of other options along the Central Coast for those of you with larger RVs.

2. Santa Vida RV Park

Santa Vida RV Park, a little further north than Santa Cruz, is exactly one of those RV parks that welcomes all RVs, no matter the size. This RV park is perfectly situated so you can travel to the hustle and bustle of downtown Santa Cruz in the day, and retire to a secluded park among the redwoods in the evening.

The best part is, you get all the benefits of being out in nature here too. This RV Park is actually right in the center of a 23-acre redwood forest, so exploring the park and taking in the fresh air is all possible here.

There are 40 sites here that provide hookups for electricity, water, and sewer, and no matter which of the 40 sites you book, you’ll be surrounded by Mother Nature in all her glory. Fresh air, facilities for RVs, and a bustling city less than a 10-minute drive away. What’s not to love?

3. Pismo Coast Village RV Resort

If you’ve ever spoken with anyone who has visited California’s Central Coast, then they’ll have mentioned Pismo Beach. Miles of golden coastline and stunning ocean vistas await you in the Pismo Beach area, and you can explore it all from the comfort of Pismo Coast Village RV Resort.

It’s a 26-acre site with 400 campsites. And it has everything you could possibly need on-site. Playgrounds, arcades, basketball courts, ping-pong tables, shuffleboard areas, and horseshoe pits are dotted throughout.

But that doesn’t mean you’ll just be exploring the site. Pismo Beach and all the amazing local restaurants, bars, and entertainment spots are all walking distance away including our Sky River RV Pismo Beach location. We’re just a short walk away from Pismo Coast Village RV Resort – so why not pop in, say hi, and look around while you’re here?

This location really has it all, with Pismo Beach’s miles of coastlines, beautiful beaches, and stunning pier right on your RV resort’s doorstep, it’s no wonder people have so much fun in Pismo Beach!

4. Flying Flags RV Resort and Campground

Flying Flags RV Resort and Campground is far enough removed from coastal Santa Barbara (45-minute drive) for it to be a true, ‘reconnecting with nature again’ experience, but close enough for it to be a worthwhile day trip to go and see the ocean and enjoy a day by the water.

Although leaving this RV resort might not be something you want to do when you arrive, because everything you could need is right here. There are all the traditional camping amenities you could need as an RVer, but plenty more that gives this resort a touch of luxury too.

We’re talking pool cabanas, TV lounges, and fitness centers, as well as nearby stables for horseback riding. There is also a French-inspired restaurant that’s as chic as any you’d find along the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

This RV resort is perfect for those wanting to reconnect with nature, but also keep a touch of their glamorous home lives with them too.

5. Wine Country RV Resort

And finally, you can’t come to the Central Coast and not take in the Central Coast Wine Country. The stunning vineyards surrounding Wine Country RV Resort are worth the trip alone because this part of the Central Coast truly is beautiful.

The resort itself has everything you could need – from hot tubs and pools to open-air bars and game rooms. There’s something for everyone here. Family fun-filled day trips are just walking distances away, with Ravine Waterpark just around the corner from the resort.

You wouldn’t think an RV trip to Wine Country would be fun for the kids, but this place is steeped in history and there are plenty of things for the kids to do if parents want to sample some of the local wine in the heat of the afternoon.

Paso Robles is a quick drive away too, so there’s some downtown fun just waiting for you here as well. This RV resort is situated in a stunning area surrounded by fun, history, and, most important of all, wine! It’ll be hard to not fall in love with this one.
